In 2015 the German game industry decreased by 9 percent from the previous year. The turnover was 1.91 billion euros. It recorded a sales totalling of 45.5 million units. These revenues are categorized in three fields:

  • Boxed games and download: Games for PC, consoles and mobile games
  • Online and Browser games: Online games with subscriptions and premium accounts
  • Downloadable content: For example: In-app purchases like item selling etc.

Market Volume in 2015:

  • Physical copies and downloads: 1,207 billion euros
  • Fees for online and browser games: 146 millions euros
  • In-app purchase / Item selling: 562 millions euros
